Bright Bones features 35 pairs of drawings from the sketchbook of artist Miranda Holmes. In her drawings, Holmes used gouache, colored pencil, charcoal and pastel. The softer materials – charcoal and pastel – pressed onto the opposite page of the sketchbook, leaving a “remnant” print or drawing, an impression. Holmes responds to this phenomenon of the remnant/impression throughout her drawings, exploring ideas around intimacy, solitude, and memory.
